Investing isn’t about numbers, but about what we leave behind. Juraj Richtárech from HEREDIUM busts myths about money

At the INOVATO network, we often talk about how to build companies that outlive their founders. We look for synergies, innovate processes, and try to change the world around us for the better. Yet in business circles, we often talk about money only as cash flow or numbers in a spreadsheet. Juraj Richtárech, founder of the HEREDIUM community, sees it differently: as a tool that helps us build a true legacy. Today, we want to introduce you to the story and philosophy of Juraj Richtárech, founder of the HEREDIUM community.

Investing isn’t about numbers, but about what we leave behind. Juraj Richtárech from HEREDIUM busts myths about money

Juraj isn’t your typical “finance guy in a suit” trying to sell you the latest product on the market. He’s a visionary who understands that if we want to change Slovakia’s financial future, we have to start at the foundations—through education and values.

When dissatisfaction turns into a clear goal

Many great projects are born out of dissatisfaction with the status quo. That was also the case with HEREDIUM. For a long time, Juraj watched how the Slovak financial market works—and he didn’t identify with it.

“That vision came from frustration, but also from experience,” Juraj explains. “For a long time, we’ve seen that the financial market in Slovakia is built on products, not understanding. People sign contracts, but often don’t understand what they’re doing. And that’s a problem.”

In his view, this is where the biggest crack forms. Without understanding, trust will never form—nor discipline, and logically not long-term wealth either. That’s why HEREDIUM isn’t a typical financial company. It’s a system that teaches people how to think.

“When someone understands money, they make decisions themselves—and they make them right. That’s when investing makes sense,” he adds.

More than just money: What is a true legacy?

The name “Heredium” comes from Latin and means legacy. In today’s world, most of us imagine a house, a car, or a fat bank account. But for Juraj and his team, the word has a much deeper meaning.

“For us, legacy isn’t just about assets. It’s about the values we leave behind,” Juraj says with conviction. He points to a simple but harsh truth: if you leave someone only money but don’t teach them how to handle it, they’ll probably lose it. But if you pass on the right mindset, discipline, and values, they can build wealth again—even if they lose everything.

Juraj and HEREDIUM’s goal isn’t just to build a successful company. “We want to leave behind a community of people who understand life and money—and take responsibility for their decisions.”

Why are Slovaks afraid to invest?

The statistics are clear. Only a quarter of Slovaks invest actively, while the rest leave their money at the mercy of inflation in current accounts. Juraj sees the main problem in a system that didn’t prepare us for real life with money.

“At school we learn math, but we don’t learn how to work with money. At home, it’s often not talked about because parents didn’t have that experience themselves. And then the market comes along and, instead of education, offers products,” Juraj names the main reasons for this passivity. The result is a vicious circle of fear and distrust. In his view, people aren’t stupid—they just lack information in the right context.

The future belongs to the young (if we teach them)

One of HEREDIUM’s most interesting activities is its programs for children and young people, such as First Money, MoneyMind, or Geocaching. Why would an investment group focus on children? The answer is both strategic and human.

“That’s where the future is decided. If you teach a 30-year-old how to work with money, you change their life. If you teach a 15-year-old, you change their entire direction,” explains Juraj. In his view, young people are a “blank slate”—they have neither prejudices nor the bad habits of adults.

For Juraj, the biggest reward is that famous “aha” moment when a pupil or student understands the connections. “When they suddenly see that money isn’t the problem, but a tool. Those are the moments we do this for.”

“Financial gurus” from social media

In the age of crypto influencers and promises of getting rich overnight, HEREDIUM’s approach feels almost old-fashioned. But that’s exactly where their greatest strength lies. Juraj admits they don’t compete with the noise of social media. They do the exact opposite.

We don’t promise quick money. We don’t promise shortcuts. We build trust through the truth—even when it isn’t always pleasant. We talk about discipline, time, and consistency. And that’s not sexy. But it works.” While influencers sell fleeting emotion and “lambo” dreams, Juraj’s team builds on solid foundations and an understanding of reality.

Lessons from a crisis: The biggest mistakes happen in panic

The last few years have been tough for markets—and for investors’ psyche. Inflation, wars, uncertainty. But Juraj emphasizes that it’s precisely in turbulent times that the truth comes out and you see who really understands what they’re doing.

“Markets fluctuate. That’s their nature, not a problem,” Juraj says calmly. His advice to clients during panic was straightforward: “The biggest mistakes aren’t made during a downturn. They’re made in panic. If you have a strategy, stick to it. If you don’t, the problem isn’t the market—it’s the lack of a plan.” For a prepared investor, a crisis isn’t a threat—it’s an opportunity.

The path to freedom starts with a decision

When you ask Juraj about his vision for the future, he doesn’t talk only about assets under management. He sees HEREDIUM as regional education centers and a strong community where people come to learn naturally—because they want to understand the world around them.

And what does he say to those who think they don’t have enough money to invest and put themselves in the “wait-and-see” camp with money sitting in current accounts? “Don’t start with money. Start with understanding. Investing isn’t about how much you have. It’s about how you think. Even small amounts, if invested systematically, create big results. But choosing to do nothing creates nothing.”

According to Juraj Richtárech, the biggest risk today is one specific thing: doing nothing at all.
