Where to look if you want to participate in the Hackathon ?
Košice
If you are from the East, you certainly don’t have to despair. Unfortunately the current online Hackathon is currently underway. But you can still keep yourself informed for the future on the HACK KOSICE page.
Bratislava
If you are close to Bratislava or studying-living nearby and want to take part in the Hackathon, try to check out the HACKATHON.COM website. On the page they are adding links about innovative meetups that are just about to take place. If you happen to be looking for inspiration on what topic to participate with, you can find Hackathons from previous years here as well.
Global
If you’re looking for sites that offer Hackathons and would like to participate without a fee, try taking a peek at eventbrite. You can also choose free online Hackathons, date of the event and so on.
A widespread trend in Slovakia
Such events are taking place all over Slovakia. You can also find it in Nitra or Banská Bystrica. The best part is that you don’t have to travel further than your office or room. Online Hackathon was organized globally last year (2020). In 2019 in Nitra there was a Hackathon for architects to redesign the pedestrian zone – Svätoplukovo Square. In 2017, a Hackathon was also organized by Telekom. It focused on Big Data. Participants described this event as a good experience that may come together in the future. Even with only 4-5 hours of sleep in one night.
Hackathon for students from top schools
MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) is one of the colleges that organizes Hackathon for students from different parts of the world. I recommend you to watch this short video. A student from Cambridge describes her experience at the MIT Hackathon Expo she attended. She talks about how she had an extraordinary experience creating a prototype, about working in a team under time stress, and about sleep deprivation.
What will it cost you ?
The Hackathon may cost you some money or you can register for the free event. It’s up to you which alternative suits you best. Hackathon participants don’t sleep much, they take breaks to eat and interact with mentors from the field of the challenge the team is tackling. It’s a pretty intense few hours, especially the last 8-12 hours.
Organizations that run Hackathons, such as the aforementioned Telecom, or cities and schools that have dedicated savings to implement new architecture technologies, and many others. If you’re new to the business sphere, nothing happens. Slowly but surely, savings can also be made from revenue.
If you are planning to participate/organize a Hackathon, or are currently participating/organizing an online or even offline Hackathon, I wish you the best of luck! I hope you took away a lot of useful information from this article. And finally, I recommend you to be guided by the motto:
