\u201cEurope never really gave itself a proper chance,\u201d<\/em><\/strong> says Martin Vlachynsk\u00fd<\/strong> from INESS. \u201cFailure analyses have been repeated over and over. There\u2019s a silent consensus that the past 30 years have been marked by rising bureaucracy, energy failures, overreaching green policies, and a bloated welfare state. But somehow, we\u2019re stuck in analysis and not moving forward.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

According to him, Slovakia still doesn\u2019t play a strong role in the region, which is reflected in the low turnout in European Parliament elections. Yet, changes are happening.<\/span><\/p>\n

Technology, crises, and a new generation are raising questions that can\u2019t be ignored.<\/strong> How do we prepare manufacturing for co-existence with artificial intelligence? What motivates young people to take an interest in technology? How do we create products that are not only high quality but also have a story?<\/p>\n

The future of industry starts at home<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cThe real strength of industry lies in domestic companies with their own capital,\u201d<\/em> <\/strong>says Libor Witassek from Strojcar.<\/strong> These types of companies \u2014 deeply rooted in local regions \u2014 have the potential to change the game. Not the ones chasing cheaper labor abroad, but those in contact with customers, producing final products, and able to engage young people \u2014 those who don\u2019t just want to \u2018push buttons\u2019 but understand why they do it.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u013dubom\u00edr \u0160vec from \u0160VEC GROUP<\/strong> puts it bluntly: \u201cWe lack young people in mechanical engineering. Not because they\u2019re not interested \u2014 but because they know nothing about it.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Today\u2019s production halls are not dirty workshops like they used to be \u2014 they are clean, technologically advanced spaces full of robotics, programming, and automation. That\u2019s why we must start as early as primary school \u2014 showing technology to both kids and parents, breaking stereotypes, and opening doors.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Digitalization? First, get organized<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Digital technologies and artificial intelligence are fundamentally changing how we work. How do we prepare companies for new roles, train employees with digital skills, and teach people to collaborate with AI tools already used in production?<\/span><\/p>\n

Lenka Slukov\u00e1 from TECHNODAT<\/strong> says it clearly: \u201cMany companies still work in Word documents saved in folders.\u201d<\/em> If we want to talk about AI in manufacturing, buying new software is not enough.<\/strong> Data needs to be clean, processes set up properly, and there must be a willingness to change how we work. Only then will technology deliver real value.<\/p>\n

And what about sustainability?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

It\u2019s not just a directive from Brussels \u2014 it\u2019s an opportunity. Martin Vlachynsk\u00fd<\/strong> emphasizes that the climate crisis is real.<\/strong> \u201cWe shouldn\u2019t be running from the peloton \u2014 we should be in front.\u201d<\/em> Every further reduction in emissions may mean higher costs and lower impact<\/strong> \u2014 unless big countries like China and the U.S. get involved.<\/p>\n

Still, it makes sense to find ways to extend product lifespans, reduce ecological footprints, and increase value for customers.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The future of industry emerges where the rules are being rewritten<\/strong><\/h2>\n

These are exactly the topics we\u2019ll explore during the 6th edition of the <\/span>INOFEST<\/b><\/a> festival, taking place on <\/span>September 23\u201324, 2025<\/b>, at the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology STU in Trnava. The festival will again bring together people from business, science, education, local government, and startups. Expect open discussions, practical workshops, and expo zones where participants can exchange experiences, ideas, and inspiration.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year\u2019s edition will focus on the fundamental challenges shaping European industry. One of the key themes will be <\/span>engineering and manufacturing<\/b> \u2014 how to find a balance between returning to technical roots and the urgent need for rapid innovation. In an era where we must develop new solutions faster than ever, <\/span>agility and cross-functional teamwork<\/b> will be essential.<\/span><\/p>\n

In discussions about new manufacturing concepts, we\u2019ll look at how companies are applying <\/span>Lean<\/b>, <\/span>Agile<\/b>, and <\/span>Industry 4.0<\/b> principles. We’ll explore how these approaches are changing how businesses think, produce, and respond to change.<\/p>\n

And yes \u2014 we\u2019ll also talk about <\/span>business in space<\/b>. The space industry is no longer reserved for defense and aerospace. Today, IT firms, manufacturing companies, and material innovators have real opportunities to enter the rapidly growing space economy. And we\u2019ll be there to witness it.<\/span><\/p>\n

The future of Slovak industry won\u2019t be decided in Brussels or foreign headquarters. It will be decided at home \u2014 among companies, schools, experts, and communities who are ready to find new answers to old questions. If change is to come, it won\u2019t start from the top.
